Our Sports leaders delivery aims to help develop young people into confident leaders and problem solvers and support the delivery of a sports leadership qualification through BTEC and SL awards. Below are a handful of our Case Studies for our Sports Leaders delivery, all of our case studies will follow the 3 i’s format. This format can be seen below.
Intent:
To help develop young people into confident leaders and problem solvers and support the delivery of a sports leadership qualification through BTEC and SL awards.
Implementation.
As part of this model, we work in close relation with the course leader and support in their planning and implementation of their pedagogy to ensure all the learners receive the learning opportunities to allow them to develop into the best leaders they can be.
We also work with and share our expertise with the sports leaders themselves through several processes as they work to plan a large scale multi school sport festival. The stages of learning that we support with are;
- An initial meeting where the sports leaders ask several linking to the initial planning, safeguarding and organisation of a festival. The leaders use the information we provide to help them plan, advertise, and run a sports festival.
- We then review all this information and provide feedback and potential improvements before supporting the group to make these changes.
- We continue to keep regular contact with the sports leaders to provide guidance for the students on the build-up to the festival.
The culmination of this delivery is the festival day itself, where the sports leaders run the sports festival to a large number of primary school children. On the day we use our coaches to help provide ongoing support and guidance as well as filling any roles that are required on the day such as officials, scorers, managers etc…
Impact.
The impact of our support in this delivery process is to provide the students with industry professional guidance. The children gain a greater understanding of what a career in sports leadership entails at the same time as developing their resourcefulness and confidence throughout the process.
Our final role, also then sit as a reference provider for these young people as they move onto the next stage of their lives into further education or employment.
Intent:
To develop confident, healthy leaders through sport and physical activity whilst learning to deliver basic sessions to a range of people in their school and wider communities. This also aims to reduce the teacher workload by being an independent delivery strand where our Mentors, while fully welcoming any support, are fully able to lead, plan, assess the sessions wholly independently.
Implementation.
All young people that undertake a sports leaders course delivered by ourselves will learn how to use a range of fundamental behaviours to enable them to improve 5 key skills; self-belief, problem solving, teamwork, self-management and communication.
This is done through both guided, peer-to-peer and supervised leadership to allow all learners to demonstrate all the key skills and behaviours through these sessions and achieve the certified Sports Leaders Qualifications.
We provide delivery, assessment and organisation of Level,1 2 and 3 sports leadership qualifications for all children in Key stages 3, 4 and Post 16 as well as providing a clear link to employment through the Coach Core Apprenticeship scheme.
The initial long-term plans that we have developed using the resources provided by Sports Leaders are designed by our Education and Leadership Manager, Jake Duxbury, who is a qualified teacher and will work with any educational setting to create Long, Medium- and short-term plans to ensure the qualification and delivery to provide the best quality bespoke provision that fits the needs for both the school and its students.
Impact.
The courses we deliver are designed to provide opportunities for all learners to develop their confidence both socially and academically as well as providing increased exposure to the different ways in which leadership can benefit the well-being of the learners, developing the 5 skills outlined above to create more rounded, confident, and independent young people.
The 5 skills and associated behaviours are designed to benefit the learners in the school setting, socially and in their wider life ensuring that all successful learners are more employable due to the skills and experience that they gain through the courses. The level 2 course is recognised on personal statement and the level 3 course even carries UCAS points.
Intent:
To develop confident, healthy leaders through sport and physical activity whilst learning to deliver basic sessions to a range of people in their school and wider communities.
A full programme lasting the academic year allows continued development above and beyond the requirements of the Sports Leaders Qualification allowing for a more bespoke learner centred approach to achieving the qualifications allowing more time for the children to not only become leaders in sport, academia and in wider life.
We also aim to reduce teacher workload by being an independent delivery strand where our Mentors, while fully welcoming any support, are fully able to lead, plan, assess the sessions wholly independently to benefit the school and learners in a bespoke and progressive way.
Implementation.
All young people that undertake a sports leaders course delivered by ourselves will learn how to use a range of fundamental behaviours to enable them to improve 5 key skills; self-belief, problem solving, teamwork, self-management and communication. Over the course of a full curriculum delivery the leaders will be supported in becoming more self-aware and developmentally driven to create their own bespoke learning journey to become a qualified sports leader.
This is done through both guided, peer-to-peer and supervised leadership to allow all learners to demonstrate all the key skills and behaviours through these sessions and achieve the certified Sports Leaders Qualifications. As part of the year, our model includes a series of primary school and intra-school sporting activities that allow the Sports Leaders to begin by assisting and culminating in the leaders planning, advertising and running their own sports festivals. These will be developed in conjunction with the needs and requirements of each individual educational setting to enable support with the transition process from primary to secondary schools.
We provide delivery, assessment and organisation of Level,1 2 and 3 sports leadership qualifications for all children in Key stages 3, 4 and Post 16 as well as providing a clear link to employment through the Coach Core Apprenticeship scheme.
This holistic approach comes with an initial planning meeting where our Education and Leadership Manager, Jake Duxbury, who is a qualified teacher will meet with the school to discuss the individual requirements of each setting to create a bespoke, progressive and challenging long-term plan that is designed to work in conjunction with resources provided by Sports Leaders. We then turn this into shorter-, medium- and short-term plans that are delivered through our highly qualified leadership mentors, who all possess a range of sports coaching, university and educational qualifications as well as a wealth of experience delivering our sports leadership courses.
Impact.
The courses we deliver are designed to provide opportunities for all learners to develop their confidence both socially and academically as well as providing increased exposure to the different ways in which leadership can benefit the well-being of the learners, developing the 5 skills outlined above to create more rounded, confident, and independent young people.
The whole curriculum approach allows a self-awareness to be developed by each learner that will allow them to acknowledge areas of personal strengths and developments in a way that will allow them to work with our leaders to become more emotionally aware and develop their own ability to influence their own mental and physical well-being.
The 5 skills and associated behaviours are designed to benefit the learners in the school setting, socially and in their wider life ensuring that all successful learners are more employable due to the skills and experience that they gain through the courses. The level 2 course is recognised on personal statement and the level 3 course even carries UCAS points.
